After four unspectacular seasons in the Twins' farm system, in which he went 49-44 with a 3.98 earned run average, Wiley had a breakthrough season with the Pacific Coast League's Tacoma Twins in . He went 9-1 with a 2.15 ERA to earn a call up to Minnesota that June.
